Open the Article Manager in your Joomla! Administrator, and create a new Article. Select Uncategorized for the Section and Category. Add your 404 content to the Article and click the Save icon near the top right hand side of the Article Edit screen.
Optionally, Create a New Menu named errormenu or something similar to add your uncategorized 404 error page too. I do this in order to have the error page enabled and published, however when I set the Menu Assignment, I select 'None' so that my menu does not display on any pages in my Joomla! web site, and if you have SEF enabled, you can use the SEF URL to link to the 404 page if you wish.

You can configure the TinyMCE WYSIWYG HTML Editor for your Joomla! installation by logging into the administrator interface, and opening the Plugin Manager
Extensions > Plugin Manager
Locate the Plugin named Editor - TinyMCE and open it for editing. You will see the configurable parameters on the right hand side of the screen. Following is a list of some of the configurable parameters, and how they will affect your TinyMCE Editor.
Functionality: The options are Simple, Advanced and Extended, I believe that the default for a newly installed Joomla! system is the Advanced Selection.

When you install Joomla! you are initially given two options for your default editor, either 'No Editor' or 'TinyMCE', but your standard Joomla! installation has a third option as well.
The first thing you will need to do in order to use the installed XStandard Lite 2.0 Editor, is to enable the Joomla! plugin. Open the Plugin Manager (Extensions > Plugin Manager) and locate the plugin named Editor - XStandard Lite 2.0. Either click the name of the plugin, or check the box to its left and click the 'Edit' icon on the top right hand side of the screen to edit the Plugin settings.
On the left hand side of the Plugin configuration screen, set the Enabled option to 'Yes'.
On the right hand side of the Plugin configuration screen, you can modify the Editor Mode and Word Wrap parameters if you wish, however the default values should be alright.
Once you have finished modifying the Plugin parameters, click the 'Save' icon on the top right hand side of the screen. Now the XStandard Lite 2.0 Editor will be available for you to use. However you still need to perform additional steps in order to actually use the editor for creating your content items.
Now you need to open the User Manager (Site > User Manager) and locate your username in the list of site Users. Either click on the username or check the box to its left and click the 'Edit' icon on the top right of the screen to edit the User.
On the right hand side of the screen locate the User Editor drop down list, and select 'Editor - XStandard Lite 2.0' from the list of selections. Then click the 'Save' icon on the top right hand side of the screen.
Joomla! Set XStandard Lite 2.0 as User Editor
Now you have enabled the Editor Plugin, and set it as the default content editor, you can open an Article in the Article manager, and you will see the XStandard Lite WYSIWYG editor in the content portion of the Article entry screen.

Using Joomla! 1.0.1x, comment out the line in includes/frontend.php in function mosShowHead:
$mainframe->addMetaTag( 'Generator', $_VERSION->PRODUCT . " - " . $_VERSION->COPYRIGHT);
Using Joomla! 1.5.x, EITHER
comment out in
\libraries\joomla\document\html\renderer around line 84
or
add to your template's index.php file (within php tags)
$this->setGenerator('Whatever you want the Generator text to say - alternatively leave blank');
